Founded in 2021, the Tamil Nadu Wilderness Experiences Corporation (TNWEC) is the State Government’s dedicated enterprise for elevating ecotourism. Trek Tamil Nadu offers a remarkable opportunity to explore the wilderness landscape of Tamil Nadu with 124 identified forest trails spread across the state. To kickstart the project, 40 trails are identified on priority for responsible trekking. Our trekking adventures are designed with minimal impact on the natural environmental ensuring low carbon footprints and safeguarding the natural beauty of our forests. We currently catalogue 40 treks across Tamil Nadu, each offering a distinctive adventure.
3. Where can I buy the equipments for our trekking?
Many online stores provide trekking equipment at budget-friendly rates, allowing you to equip yourself adequately for your adventure.
4. How can I hire a trekking guide?
The ticket charges are inclusive of Guide Services. We conduct trekking exclusively with guides to ensure safety in forested areas, as navigating these environments require specialized knowledge and skills. Our guided treks are designed to provide a secure & splendid experience.
5. Are treks operated year-round?
Safety of trekkers being the priority, our trail remains closed for a defined period of two months from Feb 15th where wild fires are likely to occur & expand.
1. What are the things to carry?
Since it is a day hike, a smaller daypack should suffice. A backpack with personal water bottle (reusable), pocket snacks, customised medicine etc. are recommended.
2. Can we expect rest room facilities along the trails?
We strive to offer the best possible amenities to the trekkers. While restrooms are available at most reception points, we are actively working on expanding these amenities to all locations.
1. Is it safe for women?
Safety is a top priority for us. We have implemented measures to ensure the security of all trekkers, including solo women.
2. Shall I bring my pet to the trek?
Sorry, we don’t offer pet friendly treks since all routes are located inside forest & wild life areas. Pets might face dangers on rugged or unfamiliar terrain, or they might inadvertently create hazards for themselves or others.
3. Shall I brink my DJ / speakers/ air pods along the trek?
Not advisable at all. Keeping one’s ears & eyes open is a safety prerequisite in wild animal habitat & always pay attention to guide’s instructions.
4. Whether photography is permitted during the trek?
You are welcome to take photos during the trek without breach of etiquette. Always mind to keep a safe distance when photographing wild animals or approaching cliffs.
5. Is there any prescribed age limit to perform a trek?
We welcome all trekkers who are physically or mentally fit to perform trek. However, trekkers aged 9 and below are allowed to trek only in easy routes that too with the escort of parent / guardian.
6. Are there any safety measures in place for the trekkers?
Yes, we implement various safety protocols such as employing trained guides, providing first aid kits, and preparing for emergency situations.
7. Can trekking be done solo?
For safety reasons, solo treks are not allowed. All our trek routes are located in forest and wildlife areas. Minimum group size advisable for a trek is 5 individuals as per our policy.
1. Is it mandatory to book slots online(trektamilnadu.com) or can I show up and do instant bookings?
For convenience, we offer an entirely online booking system. All transactions are paperless and cashless. Instant bookings can be made based on slot availability.
2. Once booked, where should I report to join the trek?
To join the trek, you are required to report at the reception point atleast 30min prior to the trek start time. Kindly contact our customer care to get the details.
3. Whats the Guide to Trekker ratio for the treks?
We maintain a ratio of one guide for every five (1:5) trekkers.

5. What happens to my booking if trek Tamil Nadu cancels the trek?

1. What challenges are typically associated with trekking?
Common challenges encountered during trekking include fluctuating temperatures & precipitation, wildlife movement, small stream crossings, and varied terrain (rocky surface, wet & slippery surface etc.).
2. What level of fitness is required for trekking?
Trekking in forest areas invariably requires physical endurance depending upon the category of trek & the age factor to a great extent. Basic fitness is sufficient for easy and moderate treks. Some routes may require meeting specific fitness standards. For more information, kindly refer the individual trek routes.
Trekking is a recreational activity along undulating terrain but not a race. Adequate prepartion & proper planning will make treks memorable.

3. Is network coverage and internet connectivity consistent during trekking?
Please immerse yourself in the natural beauty and serenity of the environment by leaving electronic gadgets behind. We also want to inform you that network coverage may be unreliable or unavailable in forested and remote areas.
1. Are the treks under Trek Tamil Nadu insured?
We mandate insurance cover for all trekkers. The fee for this insurance coverage is included as part of our trekking packages. We ensure that every trekker is protected and can enjoy their adventure.
2. What are the components included in the trek fee?
The trek fee covers the entry fee, guide fee, insurance coverage, welcome kit, basic refreshment (if any) and related conveyance charges (if any).
3. How do I register for a Trek?
• Sign in to your account.
• Select your trails.
• Choose your preferred date of trek.
• Select available slots and timing.
• Add the number of participants and their particulars.
• Make payment (UPI/online/credit card/debit card) & generate / download the e-ticket from e-mail.
1. Are there any prohibited activities during the trek?
Any act that cause damage to the wildlife & their habitat and/or to the trekkers is prohibited outright. An indicative list of prohibited activities are as below.
• Littering or discarding non-biodegradable materials
• Cooking, smoking, or creating fires
• Consuming alcohol
• Creating disturbances or misbehaving
• Causing environmental or noise pollution
• Damaging vegetation, wildlife, or carrying pets
• Defacing rocks or structures
• Any other activity prohibited under the Tamil Nadu ecotourism policy and various Acts & Rules prevailing in the State of Tamil Nadu
