Dalpur Sree Sree Gyanananda Saraswati Ashram, Dalpur, Chhatna, Bankura, West Bengal, is engaged in conservation and cultivation of many varieties of rice (60), medicinal plants (42), millets & forage crops (17) and vegetables (40). The community won the Plant Genome Saviour Community Award 2020-21 awarded by Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Authority, Government of India. Achievements Local farmers, associated with the community, are cultivating aromatic rice varieties like ‘Lal Badshabhog’ (2.0 ha), ‘Gobindbhog’ (2.0 ha) and ‘Bhutmuri’ (0.5 ha). ‘Lal Badshabhog’ (REG/2015/358) rice variety has been registered as a farmer variety with Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Authority (PPVFRA). The community is associated with Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Nadia; Department of Agriculture, Govt. of West Bengal; West Bengal Comprehensive Area Development Corporation (WBCADC) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonamukhi, Bankura, West Bengal. It was also engaged in 155 awareness cum training programmes conducted by various agencies that benefitted nearly 6000 rural youth and women during past few years.
