Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA) has launched "Namma Arasu" WhatsApp chatbot during January 2026. The launch at this service underscores the strategic importance of mobile-first governance in the State's vision for accessible public services. Benefits of Namma Arasu The initiative enables residents across Tamil Nadu to access essential government services through a conversational, mobile-first platform, eliminating the need for complex portal navigation or physical visits to government offices. The WhatsApp chatbot can be accessed on +91 78452 52525. As a Phase 1 of the rollout, 51 services spanning 16 departments are made live on WhatsApp, including Local body Department Services, Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department Devotee-centric services, TNEB Bill payment and various other citizen-facing services across departments. The platform has been designed to ensure seamless, secure, and scalable service delivery using WhatsApp Flows for user interaction, payment integration, Al-driven intent detection enabling natural, conversational interactions and API integration with government back-end systems. This initiative is part of the Government of Tamil Nadu's broader digital transformation agenda to make government services more accessible, transparent, and citizen-friendly. The State plans to expand the services in a phased manner progressively adding more departments and services to the "Namma Arasu" platform to enhance citizen convenience.
