Located at Bhamburda, Pune, the Pataleshwar Cave Temple, also known as the Panchaleshvara Temple or Bhamburda Cave Temple, is a Shaiva rock-cut cave temple belonging to the 7th - 8th century C.E. The temple has a triple-shrine plan, with a garbhagriha in each shrine. A Shivalinga is placed in the central garbhagriha. Its architectural plan consists of an ardhamandapa, mahamandapa and mukhamandapa, along with a sandhara passage for circumambulation (pradakshina) and a separate Nandi-mandapa. The side walls of the mandapa depict scenes from Shaiva and Vaishnava narratives, including Gangadhara Siva, Anantasayi Vishnu, Lingodbhava, Tripurantaka, Gajalakshmi, Gajasura and Andhkasura. The Nandi-mandapa stands in the courtyard and has a circular plan, with its roof supported by 16 pillars - four placed within and twelve along the outer circumference. On the north-east side is a stepwell.
