THESES - Thematic Schools & Workshops THESES (Thematic Higher Education in Science and Engineering Schools) is a series of short-term academic schools and workshops at IIT Kharagpur that introduce participants to emerging and frontier areas of science, engineering, and related disciplines. Eligibility Faculty members of IIT Kharagpur may submit proposals to organize workshops and schools. Proposals may be submitted independently or in collaboration with colleagues from other institutions. Fellowship Support Up to INR 5 lakhs per school or workshop Travel, accommodation (guest house), and hospitality for up to 5 experts Accommodation (hostel) and hospitality for up to 50 participants Includes contingency expenditure. Program Structure Designed for senior undergraduate students, early graduate learners, and early-career researchers, the program offers focused immersion through advanced lectures, guided problem-solving, and exploratory project work. Each school or workshop is centred on a specific theme and reflects current directions in research and scholarship. Advanced Lectures, Tutorials, and Hands-on Sessions Expert-led sessions build a clear progression through the theme, connecting core ideas to current research questions. Seminars by Invited Experts Talks by leading researchers on current problems, offering insights into ongoing work and emerging directions in the field. Academic Strength of the Plan: Academic strength and suitability of proposed speakers, resource persons, and curricular structure.
