Summer Internship for Undergraduate Engineering Students CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC) invites applications for Summer Internship during May/June 2026 from engineering students of recognized universities and engineering colleges. Objective: To provide an excellent opportunity to engineering students to broaden their practical knowledge through interaction with scientists on current R&D projects, and also by exposing them to state-of-the-art experimental facilities. Eligibility: Completion of 6th semester of B.E. / B.Tech. degree. Discipline: Civil, Mechanical, ECE, EEE, CSE & IT Duration: 4 to 6 weeks during summer vacation (May to July, 2026) Number of Internships (Max.): Civil Engineering - 60 nos. Mechanical/ECE/EEE/CSE/IT - 15 nos. Note: However, CSIR-SERC reserves the right to limit the number of internships within the maximum number by considering the number of ongoing projects and other associated factors. Selection Process A strict selection process will be followed, in which merit will be taken into consideration, besides the fulfilment of eligibility criteria Eligibility Applicants should be a B.E. / B.Tech. student of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Information Technology (IT), and Computer Science Engineering (CSE) from a recognised college/university have completed the 6th semester of their degree have obtained more than 70% marks or 7.5 CGPA in the semester examinations held so far Application Procedure Online applications are invited from interested and eligible students for the internship. The following documents must be submitted with the application: Scanned copy of the Bonafide Certificate/NOC from the Head of the Institution / Head of the Department/Training and Placement Officer (TPO) Self-certified copies of mark sheets/grade cards and certificates of all semester examinations appeared so far When to Apply Applications will be received online till April 15, 2026 through https://www.serc.res.in. Interested applicants are advised to visit the News & Announcements section on the main page of the CSIR-SERC website. The list of selected candidates (including wait-listed ones, if any) will be notified on CSIR-SERC website by the last week of April, 2026. Important Instructions Applications submitted without the Bonafide Certificate from his/her institution (Head of Institution, Head of Department or TPO) will be summarily rejected. The internship does not carry any stipend. The internship should commence on or before June 15, 2026 and should be availed for a continuous period of 4-6 weeks without a break. Interns have to be present on the CSIR-SERC campus during working days of the internship period. The interns have to make their own arrangements for their stay during the period of internship. On successful completion of the internship, the interns will be provided with completion certificates. The applications should strictly conform to the requirements of the Internship. CSIR-SERC reserves the right to modify the number of internships due to internal reasons and ongoing programme/activities of the Institute.
