IISER Bhopal IISERs were created through a proclamation of Ministry of Education, Government of India, to promote quality education and research in science and related areas. The first two IISERs (Pune and Kolkata) were established in 2006. This was followed by an Institute at Mohali (2007), Bhopal & Trivandrum (2008), Tirupati (2015), and Berhampur (2016). IISERs were incorporated as Institutions of National Importance under the umbrella of the NIT (Amendment) Act, 2012 (NIT Act 2007). The Act was further amended in 2014, entitled the NITSER ACT 2014. Each IISER is a degree-granting autonomous institute. IISER Bhopal aims to provide quality science education to UG and PG students. The prime focus of the Institute is to integrate science education with research. Also, the Institute is committed to impart high ethical values and create social and environment awareness. IISER Bhopal Summer Internship Program IISER Bhopal invites applications from bright and motivated students interested in Basic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Economic Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences for its summer research internship program. Selected candidates would participate in research carried out by IISER Bhopal faculty, through research/reading projects under their supervision. Eligibility and Rules Students who are currently studying in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th year of B.Sc./B.Tech./B.S./B.S.- M.S./B.E. (or) 1st year of M.Sc./M.Tech. (or) an equivalent program are eligible to apply. Candidates are requested to fill in the Online Internship Application Form. Providing false information will invite cancellation of application/registration. Please Note: Students can apply upto three projects only. You may browse the faculty webpages at Institute’s website to get more information about their research work. Faculty not listed in the list of available projects will not be offering any summer projects. Kindly do not contact them directly for projects. Important Dates The portal will be open from March 11, 2026 to March 29, 2026. Project Duration: 4 to 8 weeks between 25 May 2026 and 20 July 2026. Selection Criteria Candidates will be selected based on their academic performance and the write-up they submit. List of candidates selected for summer internship will be displayed on institute’s website by the fourth week of April. Other Details No financial assistance will be provided. Hostel accommodation will be provided and charges (₹ 1500/- PM) will be applicable. Mess fee will be charged as per actual rates, payable to the mess contractor. (Approx ₹ 3700/- PM). After successful completion of Internship and submission of detailed project report, certificate will be issued by Faculty-in-charge.
