Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) , is a specialized identification system designed for all students in India. This initiative is part of the 'One Nation, One Student ID' program launched by the Union government, aligning with the new National Education Policy of 2020. What is APAAR ID APAAR ID - a unique 12-digit code will help students to digitally store, manage, and access all their academic credits, including Score card, marksheets, gradesheet, degrees, diplomas, certificates & co-curricular accomplishments. This ID functions as a permanent digital identity for the student in the education ecosystem. They also handle the initial creation and authentication of the APAAR. The steps followed are as follows Verification: Verify demographic details Parental Consent: Obtain parental consent if the student is a minor ie. less than 18 years. Application form for parental consent Authentication: Authenticate identity ID Creation: Upon successful verification, the APAAR ID is created and added to DigiLocker for secure online access. A confirmation SMS will be delivered to the parents through their registered mobile number linked to their UDISE+ account. Details required for APAAR ID UDISE+ Unique Student Identifier (PEN) - The UDISE+ (Unified District Information System for Education Plus) portal is a comprehensive database used for managing information related to students, teachers, and schools across India. Student Name Date of Birth (DOB) Gender Mobile Number Mother's Name Father's Name Name as per Aadhaar Aadhaar Number How to check APAAR ID creation status Student can find virtual APAAR ID Card in Issued document section of DigiLocker. The status of APAAR ID generation can also be checked in the UDISE+ Portal under the APAAR Module, which displays a list of students along with their APAAR ID statuses. Students may request their school authority to check the status of their APAAR ID creation. College students APAAR ID creation via DigiLocker Portal Visit the DigiLocker Portal “Sign up”if you are not a registered user and "Sign in" if you already have an account. Enter the OTP that was sent to the registered mobile and hit the “Submit” Once logged in, under the home page ->click the “Join Now” button of the Academic Bank of Credits banner → ABC (APAAR) ID creation windowwill pop up. Enter the requisite details and hit the “Get Document” button - Name as per Aadhaar, Date of Birth and Gender would be prepopulated, you will have to enter the Admission Year, Identity Type, and Identity value and select your academic Institution from the drop-down window Under “Identify Type”, you have to select “Roll Number”, “Registration Number”, Enrolment Number or New Admission and enter its value Scroll and select your Institution Name and hit “Ok”, once you are satisfied with the entered information → Check the consent statement and click the “Get Document” button You will be redirected to the “Issued Documents” section immediately, where your ABC ID gets shown ID creation via UMANG Portal Visit the UMANG Portal at https://web.umang.gov.in/landing/ “Regiser”if you are not a registered user and "Login" if you already have an account. Click the ABC banner and login Provide consent and click the “Allow” button, and you will be taken to the Issued Document section of your DigiLocker account. Click the + Add button or type “ABC” or “Academic” word you will see Academic Bank of Credits dropdown option popping up, select that option. Window with List of Academic Bank of Credits gets shown, click on the “ABC ID Card” A window shall pop up like that of the DigiLocker portal Enter the Admission Year, Identity Type (i.e, your Roll Number, Register Number, Enrollment Number or the Admission Number) and Identity value (selected Identity Types’ value Eg: BE20230146) and select your academic Institution from the drop-down window and check the consent language (read thoroughly) and hit the “Get Document” button You will be redirected to the Issued Documents section, where you can see the generated ABC ID 3. APAAR ID creation through ABC website Visit the ABC website Signin to the platform For a new user, you shall be prompted with a window, asking Name of your existing Academic Institution, Admission Year, Identity Type (Roll Number, Registration Number, Admission Number etc) and Identity value (Identity Type value Eg: Roll No: 636008) Select and enter all the requisite information, and hit the “Submit” button.
