India's freight sector is entering a new phase of electrification. While interest in electric medium- and heavy-duty trucks (e-MHDTs) is growing, large-scale deployment requires coordinated action across freight demand, charging infrastructure, financing, and logistics operations. PACT (Platform for Aggregating Clean Transport) is a NITI Aayog initiative under the e-FAST India platform that facilitates the aggregation of freight demand from shippers and LSPs across freight corridors. By bringing together ecosystem stakeholders, PACT seeks to strengthen coordination and accelerate the scale-up of zero-emission freight deployment. About e-FAST India Freight transport decarbonization can be achieved through several strategies, but among them, the transition to zero/low-emission alternative technologies will be a significant one. Freight electrification requires coordinated efforts of policy makers, manufacturers, transporters and other stakeholders. e-FAST India (Electric Freight Accelerator for Sustainable Transport – India) is the country's first platform to facilitate collaboration between government stakeholders and private sector partners — Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Logistic Service Providers (LSPs), financers, producers, and Charge Point Operators (CPOs) — to shape strategies and actions that support freight electrification at scale, particularly in the medium- and heavy-duty vehicle segments. e-FAST was born from the recognition of the urgent need to decarbonize road-based freight transportation in India to realize its 2070 net zero commitments. Demand Aggregation - Freight demand from multiple organizations operating on the same or similar freight corridors is consolidated into a single, commercially credible demand signal. Facilitate Partnership - PACT facilitates engagement among shippers, LSPs, OEMs, CPOs, financiers and other stakeholders to identify collaboration opportunities for corridor-based electric freight deployment.
