Introduction The Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme was started by the Central Government on 14th March 2024 in Chandigarh and Assam as a pilot project. It is effective from 05-05-2025. The scheme aims to give timely medical care to road accident victims during the golden hour. The scheme is the initiative of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Victims injured in a road accident will get free and cashless treatment up to Rs. 1,50,000/- for 7 days from the date of the accident. Victims injured in a Road Accident caused by any motor vehicle on any road category are eligible to get cashless treatment in any PM Jan Arogya Yojana empanelled hospital under the Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims Scheme. There is no need to pay any charges such as medical bills by road accident injured victim at the time of his/ her treatment. The scheme is being implemented with the support of Hospitals, State Health Agencies and Police. Benefits Road Accident Injured Victim will get cashless treatment up to Rs. 1,50,000/-. Treatment Cost Covers 7 Days from the date of the accident. Eligibility Road Accident Injured Victims are Eligible. Indian / any nationality person can avail the benefits. Cashless Treatment will only be provided in a PM Jan Arogya Yojana empanelled hospital for a maximum of 7 days. Police should be informed within 24 hours. Documents Aadhaar Card or any Photo Identity Card of the Injured Victim. Process to Apply The injured person will get cashless and free treatment at any hospital empanelled under Ayushman Bharat - PM Jan Arogya Yojana. All the documentation will be done by the hospital administration. It is mandatory to hospitalize injured person within 24 hours of road accident. Hospital Administration will not charge any fees to the injured person. Reimbursement will be filed by the hospital administration from the government. Government will reimburse the treatment amount to respective hospitals from the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund. Transfer of Victim to Hospital All injured persons in road accident will get the cashless treatment, if they get admitted in hospital through following ways :- Admitted by Local Police. Self Hospitalization. Brought by Ambulance or third party. Brought by the Owner or Driver of that vehicle which caused the accident. Brought by Family Member. Brought by Good Samaritans.
