Introduction In July 2025, the Punjab state Government approved a revamped version of its flagship health insurance programme, now known as the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY). The scheme is an upgraded form of the earlier Sehat Sarbat Bima Yojana, which was originally launched in 2019 to provide financial protection against major medical expenses. The updated scheme significantly enhances the coverage amount and expands access to treatment. It is being implemented by the State Health Agency Punjab under the Government of Punjab. Under this programme, eligible families can avail cashless and completely free treatment up to Rs. 10 lakh per year per family in government as well as empanelled private hospitals. Earlier, the coverage limit was Rs. 5 lakh per family. More than 2,000 medical procedures and treatments are covered under the scheme. To ensure smooth access to benefits, the government issues a Chief Minister Health Card, which beneficiaries can present at hospitals to receive cashless treatment. CM Health Card under Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana of the Punjab Government can be generated by visiting the Sewa Kendra. Benefits The Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana provides substantial health coverage to eligible households in Punjab. Key benefits include :- Cashless treatment up to Rs. 10,00,000 per year per family. Coverage available in both Government Hospitals and Empanelled Private Hospitals. More than 2,000 medical procedures covered. Includes expenses related to pre-hospitalization and post-discharge care. No cap on the number of family members covered. No income ceiling for eligibility. The scheme ensures that families do not have to bear heavy out-of-pocket expenses during medical emergencies.
