<h3>Introduction</h3>
<ul>
<li><img style="max-width: 100%; height: 400px; float: right;" src="https://static.vikaspedia.in/mediastorage/filestorage/20260129105128_AndhraPradeshStreeShaktiScheme.webp" alt="Uploaded Image" width="364">The Andhra Pradesh Government had launched Stree Shakti Scheme, officially known as the Free Bus Travel Scheme for Women, from 15 August 2025.</li>
<li>This initiative is one of the flagship commitments of the Government&rsquo;s &ldquo;Super Six Promises&rdquo; and aims to make public transport safer, more accessible, and completely free for women, girls, and transgender residents of the state.</li>
<li>Under this scheme, eligible passengers can travel without paying any fare on selected State Transport bus services.</li>
<li>Once a valid photo identity card is shown, the bus conductor will verify the details and issue a zero-fare ticket.</li>
<li>The free travel benefit is available only for journeys within Andhra Pradesh and applies to the following State Transport (APSRTC) services :-
<ul>
<li>Pallevelugu.</li>
<li>Ultra Pallevelugu.</li>
<li>City Ordinary.</li>
<li>Express Service.</li>
<li>Metro Express.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>However, the scheme does not cover certain premium or special-category buses. Free travel will not be available on :-
<ul>
<li>Non-Stop Services.</li>
<li>Interstate Services.</li>
<li>Chartered Buses.</li>
<li>Package Tour Buses.</li>
<li>A/C Buses.</li>
<li>Star Liner.</li>
<li>Super Luxury.</li>
<li>Ultra Deluxe.</li>
<li>Saptagiri Express.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Alongside free travel, the government is also focusing on passenger safety and infrastructure upgrades.</li>
<li>Measures include body-worn cameras for women conductors, installation of CCTV cameras in buses, and improvement of facilities at bus stations such as seating, fans, drinking water, and toilets.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Benefits</h3>
<ul>
<li>Completely free bus travel for eligible beneficiaries.</li>
<li>No ticket fare or pass purchase required.</li>
<li>Zero-fare ticket issued after identity verification.</li>
<li>Applicable across Andhra Pradesh on selected APSRTC services.</li>
<li>Enhanced safety through CCTV surveillance and body cameras.</li>
<li>Improved public amenities at bus stations.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Eligibility</h3>
<ul>
<li>The free bus travel facility is available only to :-
<ul>
<li>Women.</li>
<li>Girls.</li>
<li>Transgender persons.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Additional conditions :-
<ul>
<li>The beneficiary must be a resident of Andhra Pradesh.</li>
<li>Carrying a valid photo identity card during travel is mandatory.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ul>
<h3>Documents</h3>
<p>Any one of the following government-issued photo ID documents is acceptable :-</p>
<ul>
<li>Aadhaar Card.</li>
<li>Voter ID Card.</li>
<li>Passport.</li>
<li>Driving Licence.</li>
<li>Any other valid photo identity card issued by a government authority</li>
</ul>
<h3>Process to Apply</h3>
<ul>
<li>There is no application process for the Stree Shakti Scheme.</li>
<li>Eligible beneficiaries can simply board an eligible APSRTC bus within Andhra Pradesh.</li>
<li>Carry an original, valid photo identity proof.</li>
<li>Show the document to the bus conductor for verification.</li>
<li>Receive a zero-fare ticket under the Stree Shakti Scheme.</li>
<li>The Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department will reimburse APSRTC for all zero-fare tickets issued under this scheme.</li>
