Introduction In the year 2024, the Assam Government launched Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, which is a one of its kind self-employment scheme for women. The main aim of this scheme is to ensure that women members of Self Help Groups can upgrade their living conditions and also to make sure that their minimum income should be Rs. 1 lakh per year. Assam Rural Livelihood Mission is the implementing agency of this scheme, which works under the Panchayat & Rural Development Department of the Government of Assam. Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan is started only for women who are active members of Self Help Groups in Assam. Women members of SHGs will get financial assistance of Rs. 10,000/- as Seed Capital to set up business in phase 1 of this scheme. Once the business is set up, Women Beneficiary can further avail the benefit of a subsidized loan of Rs. 25,000/-. Out of this, she has to return 50% amount to the bank, i.e. Rs. 12,500/-. In the third year if the beneficiary utilizes the money productively, then additional Rs. 50,000/- will be provided by the Government. Remaining 50% (Rs. 12,500/-) is a non-refundable subsidy from the Assam Government. The Government of Assam estimates that around 40 lakh women of Self Help Groups will get the benefit of Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan and become small entrepreneurs. Assam Government allocated Rs. 3038/- crore as per the new budget announcement for the year 2025-2026, and on 01-04-2025, this scheme was further implemented in Behali Legislative Assembly Constituency. Benefits In Phase 1 (First Year) :- Seed Capital of Rs. 10,000/- to set up a Business will be provided to Beneficiaries. In Phase 2 (Second Year) :- Business Loan of Rs. 25,000/-. 50% is a Government Subsidy, and 50% is a Bank Loan. Rs. 12,500/- is Non-Refundable, and Rs. 12,500/- will be returned to the Bank. In Phase 3 (Third Year) :- Rs. 50,000/- Assistance if the amount provided in both phases is utilized productively. Eligibility Women who are Active members of Self Help Groups. Self Self-Help Group should be registered. SHG Defaulter or any Bank/ Financial Institution Defaulter is not Eligible to apply. Women belonging to the General, OBC Category should not have more than 3 Children. Women belonging to SC, ST, Moran, Matak, and Tea Tribe Community should not have more than 4 Children. (Self Declaration) Process to Apply Mukhymantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan Application Form is available in the Panchayat Office in Rural Area and in Municipal Corporation/ Board Office in Urban Area. Women Beneficiaries will have to collect the Application Form, which is free of cost. Fill it correctly and attach all the required documents with it. Submit the Application Form with all the documents in the same panchayat and municipal corporation/ board office. Officials from the above-mentioned offices will verify the application form initially and forward further to respective department for final approval. Eligible and Selected Women Beneficiary will get seed capital of Rs. 10,000/- directly in her bank account for setting up business and thereafter the subsidized loan of Rs. 25,000/-.
