Introduction On 28 November 2025, the Government of Assam rolled out a focused academic support initiative for Class 10 students called the Prerona Asoni. Run by the Department of Education, Government of Assam, the scheme blends financial assistance with academic encouragement at a stage that often decides a student’s future path. Board examinations bring not just academic pressure but also financial strain for many families. Expenses related to guidebooks, reference materials, model test papers, and exam preparation can add up quickly. The Prerona Asoni addresses this gap by providing direct monthly financial support to students preparing for their Class 10 board exams. Under this initiative, eligible students appearing for exams conducted by Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) or Central Board of Secondary Education (limited to Adarsha Vidyalayas) receive financial assistance for six months. The amount is transferred directly to the student’s bank account, ensuring transparency and timely support. The state government estimates that around 4.4 lakh students across Assam will benefit from this scheme, strengthening both exam readiness and overall academic outcomes.
