Introduction The Mamta Scheme is an important welfare initiative of the Government of Goa that was first introduced on 1st April 2011. The primary purpose of this scheme is to encourage the birth of girl children and improve the female child sex ratio in the state. In April 2015, the government revised the scheme with updated guidelines to make it more effective and accessible. This scheme is popularly known by different names such as "Financial Incentive to Mothers who Deliver a Girl Child - Mamta. Under this program, the government provides financial support to mothers who give birth to a girl child in a registered medical institution. An amount of Rs. 10,000 is provided as a one-time incentive. The benefit is limited to the birth of up to two living girl children. It is compulsory for the mother to apply within 45 days from the date of delivery to receive the assistance. Apply Online via Online Citizen Services Portal or through the Anganwadi Centre. Benefits Under the Mamta Scheme, the Government of Goa offers the following benefit :- One-time financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to eligible mothers on the birth of a girl child. Eligibility To receive the financial incentive under the Mamta Scheme, the applicant must fulfill the following conditions :- The mother should be a resident of Goa for at least three years or married in Goa. The girl child must be born in a registered medical institution. The benefit is available only for the birth of up to two girl children. Documents The following documents are required while applying for the scheme :- Aadhaar Card of the mother. Birth Certificate or hospital discharge report of the girl child. Residence proof of Goa. Bank account details. Mobile number. Voter ID card. Income certificate. Process to Apply Eligible Mother can apply for the Scheme through the following modes :- Online Application via the Online Citizen Services Portal of Goa Government. Offline Application through Anganwadi Centre or CDPO Office. Online Application Procedure The steps to apply online for Mamta Scheme are as follows :- The mother must apply within 45 days of the birth of the girl child. Visit the Goa Online Citizen Services Portal and complete registration using mobile number and email ID. An acknowledgement slip will be generated for future tracking. The submitted application is verified by the Child Development Project Officer and forwarded to the Directorate of Women and Child Development for approval. After approval, the incentive amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary's bank account. Offline Application Procedure Mothers can also apply through offline mode by following these steps :- Obtain the application form free of cost from the nearest Anganwadi Centre or CDPO office. Fill in all the required details carefully. Attach the necessary documents. Submit the form at the Anganwadi Centre or CDPO office. The authorities will verify the application and documents. The list of approved beneficiaries will be published on the official website. The application status can be checked online using the acknowledgement number.
