Introduction The Government of Jharkhand has taken a major welfare step for the legal fraternity by launching Adhivakta Swasthya Bima Yojana on 3 May 2025. This health insurance scheme has been designed exclusively for practicing advocates of Jharkhand and their dependent family members, ensuring that medical expenses do not become a financial burden during times of illness. The scheme is implemented by the Department of Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare, Jharkhand, with operational support from the State Aarogya Society and empanelled insurance companies. Under this program, enrolled advocates and their families can receive cashless medical treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh every year, while coverage can extend to RS. 10 lakh in serious or critical health conditions. Importantly, the entire insurance premium is paid by the Jharkhand Government, meaning advocates are not required to contribute any amount. Beneficiary Advocates can enrol themselves under Jharkhand Government's Adhivakta Swasthya Bima Yojana online at State Employees Health Insurance Scheme Website. Benefits Cashless health insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakh per year for routine and general medical treatment. Enhanced coverage of Rs. 10 lakh per year for critical or life-threatening diseases. 100% premium paid by the Jharkhand Government. No out-of-pocket payment required from advocates. Lifetime health insurance coverage for disabled advocates or advocates having disabled dependents. Treatment available at empanelled government and private hospitals across the state. Eligibility The applicant must be a registered advocate practicing in Jharkhand. Registration with the Jharkhand State Bar Council is mandatory. The advocate must be a member of the Advocates’ Welfare Fund Trust Committee. Only enrolled advocates can extend benefits to eligible family members. List of Dependents The following dependent family members of an eligible advocate are covered under the scheme :- Spouse. (husband or wife) Dependent son below 25 years of age, provided he is unemployed. Dependent daughter who is unmarried, widowed, or abandoned. Legally adopted son under 25 years of age and unemployed. Minor brother who is financially dependent on the advocate. Unmarried sister who is financially dependent. Parents of the advocate, provided their monthly pension does not exceed Rs. 9,000, if applicable. Documents Applicants must keep the following documents ready while applying online :- Bar Council Identity Card. Aadhaar Card of the advocate. Aadhaar Cards of dependent family members. Recent photographs of the advocate and dependents. Registered mobile number and active email ID. Process to Apply Advocates can apply for the scheme through the online portal in a simple and transparent manner :- Visit the State Employees Health Insurance Scheme portal. Click on the Registration option. Enter basic details and complete registration. Log in using the registered mobile number and password. Select New Application and choose Adhivakta Swasthya Bima Yojana. Fill in the application form carefully and upload required documents. Verify all details and submit the form. The concerned department will examine and approve the application. Approved applications are forwarded to the insurance company. A PVC Health Card is issued for the advocate and dependents.
