Introduction The Government of Kerala has rolled out a dedicated social welfare programme known as the Kerala Sthree Suraksha Pension Scheme, which officially came into effect on 22 December 2025. This initiative has been designed to provide consistent financial support to women who do not receive benefits under any other pension or assistance scheme run by either the State or Central Government. The scheme is implemented and supervised by the Finance Department of the Kerala Government, ensuring proper monitoring and timely disbursement of funds. Through this pension scheme, the state aims to strengthen financial security for vulnerable women belonging to economically weaker households. Eligible women beneficiaries receive monthly monetary assistance of Rs. 1,000, credited directly into their bank accounts. However, the scheme follows clearly defined eligibility conditions, and the benefit is not open to all applicants by default. The online application facility for the Sthree Suraksha Scheme has been made available through the KSMART portal, allowing eligible women to apply digitally from the comfort of their homes. Benefits The Sthree Suraksha Pension Scheme offers targeted financial assistance to eligible women beneficiaries across Kerala. The key advantages include :- Monthly financial support for eligible women applicants. A fixed assistance amount of Rs. 1,000 per month. Direct transfer of funds to the beneficiary’s linked bank account. This steady monthly support helps beneficiaries meet basic household needs and maintain financial independence. Eligibility To qualify for the Sthree Suraksha Pension Scheme, applicants must fulfill all prescribed eligibility requirements :- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Kerala. Both women and transgender persons are eligible to apply. Age of the applicant should be between 35 and 60 years. The applicant must hold any one of the following ration cards :- Priority Household (PHH) Ration Card – Pink. Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Ration Card – Yellow. The applicant should not be receiving any other social security pension or financial assistance Meeting all the above conditions is mandatory for approval under the scheme. Ineligibility Certain categories of applicants are excluded from receiving benefits under the Sthree Suraksha Scheme. These include :- Women who are already availing benefits from the following pension schemes :- Widow Pension. Disability Pension. Unmarried Woman Pension. Family Pension. Service Pension. Welfare Board Family Pension. EPF Pension. Any other Social Welfare Pension. Women currently employed under :- Central Government. State Government. Quasi-Government institutions. Applicants falling under any of the above categories are not eligible to receive monthly assistance under this scheme. Process to Apply Eligible women can apply for the Sthree Suraksha Pension Scheme through both online and offline modes. Online Application Process Visit the KSMART portal and select Apply - Citizen Login. Register using Aadhaar Number or Mobile/ Email ID. Complete Aadhaar verification via OTP. Log in using registered credentials. Select Sthree Suraksha Scheme from the dashboard. Fill in the application across six stages :- Aadhaar and ration card details. Personal information. Employment details. Bank account details. Uploading documents. Eligibility confirmation. Review the application carefully and submit it. An acknowledgement number will be generated for reference by the portal. Applications are verified by the Local Self-Government Department, after which approved beneficiary lists are forwarded to the Social Security Mission for payment processing. Offline Application Process Women unable to apply online may collect the application form from :- Gram Panchayat Office. Urban Local Body Office.
