Introduction The Lek Ladki Scheme stands as a flagship initiative of the Maharashtra Government for the welfare of girls in the state. The government launched this program to empower girls and motivate them to complete their basic education. The Women and Child Development Department of Maharashtra manages and supervises this scheme. The state government plans to provide financial assistance of about Rs. 1,01,000 to each eligible girl in five different stages. Under the Lek Ladki Scheme, girls receive financial support from birth until they reach 18 years of age in the following manner :- Rs. 5,000 at the time of birth. Rs. 6,000 on admission to Class 1. Rs. 7,000 on admission to Class 6. Rs. 8,000 on admission to Class 11. Rs. 75,000 after completing 18 years of age. Families holding any of the following ration cards can receive benefits under this scheme :- Orange Ration Card. Yellow Ration Card. Only those girls qualify for this scheme who have a birth date on or after 1st April 2023. The scheme aims to strengthen the educational level and social status of girls across Maharashtra. Families with an annual income above Rs. 1 lakh cannot take advantage of this program. People also recognize this scheme by other names such as Lek Ladki Yojana or Maharashtra Financial Assistance Scheme for Girls. Eligible families can obtain the Lek Ladki Scheme application form free of cost from the Anganwadi Center or the District Program Officer Office. Benefits The Maharashtra Government will provide financial assistance to eligible girls under the Lek Ladki Scheme at different stages of their life and education. The beneficiary family must possess a valid Orange or Yellow Ration Card. The girl child must have a birth date on or after 1st April 2023. The annual family income must remain within the limit of Rs. 1,00,000 per year. Documents Women beneficiaries must keep the following documents ready while applying for financial assistance under the Lek Ladki Scheme of the Maharashtra Government. Proof of residence in Maharashtra. Aadhaar card of the girl child. Birth certificate of the girl child. Recent passport-size photograph of the girl child. Aadhaar card of both parents. Yellow or Orange ration card. Family planning certificate. Bank account details of the beneficiary. Active mobile number. Valid income certificate. Process to Apply Eligible families can register for the Lek Ladki Scheme of the Maharashtra Government by submitting the official application form. Women can obtain the Lek Ladki Scheme application form free of cost from any of the following offices. District Program Officer. Nearest Anganwadi Center. District Parishad Office. District Women and Child Development Office. Rural and Urban Child Development Project Office. Divisional Deputy Commissioner, Women and Child Development. Parents need to attach all required documents along with the application form. Families must submit the completed Lek Ladki Scheme form at the Anganwadi Supervisor Office. The Anganwadi Supervisor or Chief Sevika will examine the received form and documents. The department will forward approved applications to the District Program Officer or Zila Parishad Office for further review. After verification, authorities will prepare the final list of Lek Ladki Scheme beneficiaries and send it to the commissionerate for approval. The department will inform selected beneficiaries through SMS or email. The government will transfer financial assistance under the Lek Ladki Scheme directly into the bank account of the girl child at every benefit stage.
