Introduction The Government of Odisha officially rolled out the CM Kisan Yojana on 8 September 2024 to strengthen financial security for farmers across rural Odisha. The scheme was introduced to supplement the income support already available under the centrally sponsored PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and to extend dedicated assistance to landless agricultural households. The primary objective of this scheme is simple to increase farm household income and provide predictable financial backing, especially to small, marginal, and landless farmers who depend heavily on agriculture for survival. The scheme is implemented by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment Odisha, which acts as the nodal authority. Under CM Kisan Yojana of the Odisha Government, the beneficiary farmers will receive the following benefits :- Small and marginal rural farmers receive Rs. 4,000 per year in two equal instalments. When combined with Rs. 6,000 under PM Kisan, eligible farmers receive Rs. 10,000 annually. Further, the Landless Agricultural Households (LAH) receive one time financial assistance of Rs. 12,500/- as livelihood support in three instalments. The financial assistance is transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). Benefits Under CM Kisan Yojana, eligible beneficiaries are entitled to the following support :- Annual income assistance for rural farmers. Rs. 4,000 per year for small and marginal farmers (Rs. 2,000 in two instalments). One Time Financial Assistance of Rs. 12,500/- for Landless Agricultural Households (in three instalments). Direct transfer of funds to bank accounts via DBT. Additional income support over and above PM Kisan benefits. The scheme ensures predictable instalment-based payments to help farmers manage agricultural and household expenses efficiently. Eligibility Farmers must meet the following conditions to qualify for the benefits of CM Kisan Yojana :- Must be a permanent resident of Odisha. Must belong to the rural area. Small and marginal farmers are eligible. Landless Agricultural Households (LAH) engaged in agricultural activities are eligible. Valid ration card required (for applicable categories). Ineligibility The following categories are not eligible for CM Kisan benefits :- Medium and large farmers. Urban area farmers. Applicants below 18 years of age. Multiple beneficiaries from the same family. Farmers without valid ration cards. Government/PSU employees and pensioners. Income tax payers. Current or former MPs, MLAs, Ministers, Mayors, District Panchayat Chairpersons. Professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, architects. Such categories continue to remain excluded as per scheme guidelines. Documents Applicants must keep the following documents ready during registration :- Aadhaar Card. Ration Card. Land Records Copy. Bank Passbook. Mobile Number. (linked with Aadhaar) MGNREGA Job Card. (for Landless Agricultural Households) All documents must be valid and correctly seeded with bank details for successful DBT transfer. Process to Apply Eligible farmers must apply online through the Official CM Kisan Portal. The registration process includes Aadhaar authentication and land verification. After successful submission, a token number is generated. This number can be used to check :- Application status. e-KYC status. Beneficiary list. Important Note :- Before applying for CM Kisan, farmers must register their land details on the Krushak Odisha Portal. Applications undergo verification at multiple stages.
