Introduction The Rajasthan Government's Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana is a state-level incentive scheme designed to promote and reward academic excellence among girl students. The Government introduced the scheme to encourage girls to continue their education and perform well in board examinations. In 2019, the scheme was renamed to Indira Priyadarshini Puraskar Yojana. In 2024, the government renamed the scheme as Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana. The Education Department of the Government of Rajasthan manages and implements the scheme. Under the revised structure introduced in 2025, the government provides financial rewards to girl students who secure the highest ranks at the district level in Class 8th, Class 10th, and Class 12th board examinations. Unlike earlier versions of the scheme, the current format focuses only on cash incentives and no longer includes free scooters. Every year, the state distributes awards on the occasion of Basant Panchami, celebrating academic achievement among girls. Benefits Under the Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana, meritorious girl students receive the following financial rewards :- Rs. 25,000 for girls securing the top position in Class 8th. Rs. 50,000 for district toppers in Class 10th. Rs. 75,000 for girls topping Class 12th board examinations. The government provides these incentives separately for each academic stream - Arts, Commerce, Science, and Sanskrit. Eligibility To qualify for the Padmakshi Puraskar Yojana, the applicant must meet the following conditions :- The student must be a permanent resident of Rajasthan. She must secure the district-level top rank in Class 8, Class 10, or Class 12 board examinations conducted by the Rajasthan Board. Girls who achieve the state topper position in Class 8 examinations conducted by the Sanskrit Education Department are also eligible. District toppers from Swami Vivekanand State Model Schools can also receive benefits. The student must take admission in the next academic class immediately after passing the board examination. The scheme is open to students from all social categories, including :- BPL families. SC, ST, and OBC. Minority communities. Socially backward classes. General category. Persons with Disabilities (PwD) Documents Eligible students must keep the following documents ready for verification :- Rajasthan residence certificate. Aadhaar card of the student. Identity proof of parent or guardian. Active bank account details. Caste certificate, if applicable. Proof of admission in the next class or course. Recent passport-size photograph. Process to Apply Girl students do not need to submit any separate application for this scheme. After board results are declared, the District Education Officer (DEO) prepares a list of eligible meritorious girl students. Each district sends this list to the Director, Secondary Education Department before 15 August every year. After verification, the Director forwards the approved list to the Secretary, Balika Shiksha Foundation. The government distributes the financial awards during an official ceremony held on Basant Panchami.
