Introduction Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity benefit scheme is the first every maternity benefit scheme of India which was launched in the 1989. Earlier the name of scheme was Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Ninaivu Mahapperu Uthavi Thittam. This scheme was amended in the year 2006 and the name change to its present one. This scheme is implemented by Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine of Tamil Nadu Government. Government will provide financial assistance in installment to all eligible preganant and lactating mother of Tamil Nadu. Currently Rs. 18,000/- will be provided under Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme out of which Rs. 14,000/- is cash assistance in 3 installments and 2 nutrition kit worth Rs. 4,000/- will also provided. Each Nutrition Kit consists :- Iron Syrup. Mother Health Mix. Food Grade Plastic Cup. Plastic Basket with Two Handles. Dry Dates. Cotten Towel. Aavin Ghee. Albendazole Deworming Tablet. Nutrition Kit under this scheme will be provided in 3rd and 6th month of pregnancy. Process to Apply Beneficiary Women can register themselves online for maternity benefits under Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme. Online Application Form is available on the PICME (Pregnancy and Infant Cohort Monitoring Evaluation) Portal. Visit the Website and Click on Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme. Fill in Mother RCH ID and Click on Get Data. The portal will fetch the details of the women beneficiary. Fill the remaining details in the application form. Upload Address Proof and Eligibility Proof. Click on the Submit Button to submit the application form. Eligible and selected pregnant women beneficiary will then get financial assistance in different stages of her pregnancy.
