Introduction The Government of Tripura introduced the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Shradhanjali Yojana on 1 April 2021. The objective is to extend immediate financial support to the poorest families during one of the most difficult moments of life, the loss of a family member. For families falling under the Antyodaya category, arranging funeral rites can become an unexpected financial burden. Recognising this reality, the state government designed this scheme to ensure that no eligible family struggles to perform the last rites due to lack of money. The scheme is administered by the Directorate of Social Welfare and Social Education. Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Shradhanjali Yojana provides a one-time financial grant of Rs. 10,000/- to help cover cremation or burial expenses. The assistance is meant to be quick and accessible, so that grieving families receive support without unnecessary procedural delays. This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to social security for economically vulnerable households and ensures dignity even in death.
