The National Voters’ Day has been celebrated on January 25 every year since 2011, all across the country to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950. Purpose The main purpose of the NVD celebration is to encourage, facilitate and maximize enrolment, especially for the new voters. Dedicated to the voters of the country, the day is utilized to spread awareness among voters and for promoting informed participation in the electoral process. Theme for 2026 Every year NVD is dedicated to voters which conveys individual’s feeling and aspiration towards participation in the electoral process through power of their vote. The theme for 2026 is "Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure". It is a continuation of last year’s theme emphasizing the importance of participation in the electoral process, and encouraging voters to take pride in exercising their franchise. The logo is designed to showcase festivity and inclusivity of the electoral process. Ashoka Chakra in the background represents the largest democracy of the world, whereas the inked finger represents participation of each and every voter of the country. The tick mark in the logo stands for informed decision making by the voter. As part of the celebrations, the following activities are to be taken up. National Awards : Election Commission of India awards Media Houses for best campaign on Voters' Education and Awareness during the year 2025. There shall be four Awards, one each for Print media, Television (Electronic), Radio (Electronic) and Online (Internet)/social media. The awards are to recognize the outstanding contributions by Media Houses to promote electoral participation by creating awareness about accessible elections, educating people about the electoral process, election related IT applications, stories on unique/remote polling stations and raising awareness among the general public about the relevance and importance of voting and registration. The award(s) will be in the form of a citation and plaque which will be presented on the National Voters' Day (25th January 2026). As a part of the celebrations, all government offices, Autonomous Bodies, organizations take the NVD pledge on 25th January, 2026. Additionally, all the schools and educational Institutions are instructed to conduct activities such as debates, discussions, and competitions, including drawing, skit, song, painting, essay.
