Real institutions don't demand action over a cold call. Ask for a reference number and offer to call back on the official number from their website. NEVER SHARE - No matter what: NEVER share your OTP, UPI PIN, password, full Aadhaar number, remote screen access, or your exact live location over a call. No legitimate institution will ever ask for these. HANG UP & VERIFY - If anything feels wrong, end the call. Do not call back on the same number. BNS Section 308, Extortion, and Section 351, Criminal Intimidation: The law recognises that threatening to publish private images, or any threat made to extract money or compliance, constitutes both extortion and criminal intimidation, even if the threat is made via any digital platform. Someone hacks into your phone, email, or social media accounts IT Act Section 66 (Hacking): The law defines any unauthorised access to a computer or digital device, including your phone, as hacking, regardless of whether data was stolen or not.
