National Testing Agency (NTA)
The Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI) has established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent, autonomous, and self-sustained premier testing organization under the Societies Registration Act (1860) for conducting efficient, transparent, and international standardized tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission to premier higher education institutions with a mission to improve equity and quality in education by developing and administering research-based valid, reliable, efficient, transparent, fair and international level assessments.
National Testing Agency has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the University Entrance Test (UG) for admission into the undergraduate common programmes/courses of all the Central Universities (CUs) for every academic session.
Central Universities (CUs)
Central Universities or Union Universities in India are established by an Act of Parliament and are under the purview of the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education. In general, Universities in India are recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which draws its power from the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. In addition, 15 Professional Councils are established, controlling different aspects of accreditation and coordination. Central Universities, in addition, are covered by the Central Universities Act, 2009, which regulates their purpose, powers, governance, etc.
Common University Entrance Test (CUET)
The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is being introduced for admission into all UG Programmes in all Central Universities for every academic session under the Ministry of Education, (MoE). The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will provide a common platform and equal opportunities to candidates across the country, especially those from rural and other remote areas and help establish better connect with the Universities. A single examination will enable the candidates to cover a wide outreach and be part of the admissions process to various Central Universities.
CUET (UG)
Common University Entrance Test is being conducted in 13 mediums across India for admission into the Undergraduate Programmes in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for all the Central Universities (CUs) and participating Universities in India for every academic year.

Admissions
- Merely appearing in CUET (UG) does not confer any right to the candidate for admission to the desirous University.
- The selection and admission are subject to fulfilling the admission criteria, eligibility, rank in the merit list, medical fitness, verification of original documents, and such other criteria as may be prescribed by the University.
- Admissions are handled at the level of each of the Central Universities (CUs) for their respective programs. After the declaration of the CUET (UG) result by NTA, the respective CUs will declare the counselling/admission schedule and merit list based on the CUET (UG) score and the other criteria of the respective University.
