In view of the urgent need of continuing education through alternative pathways, different initiatives have been taken for filling up learning gaps during the lockdown period of COVID-19. A brief on initiatives is given below:
Live Tele Education classes for Class I to Class X are being broadcasted every day from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm on Mathematics, Science, and English by expert teachers from Studio set-up at SPD Office. The classes are telecasted by two local cable TV channel broadcasters, ACC and GTPL. The classes are also broadcasted on Jio TV.
Radio Learning Program ‘Biswa Vidya’ is being broadcasted through AIR, Guwahati and Dibrugarh. The program is being broadcasted from 6th April/20 for Elementary classes on English, Assamese, Social Science and EVS for three days in a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5.45 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Telecasting Tele Classes through Doordarshan, Assam is being telecasted with effect of 13th April/20 for class IX and X on Science and Mathematics for four days in a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10.00 a.m. to 11.15 a.m.
Biswa Vidya Assam YouTube Channel is created for students of class VI to X. E-content for Science, Mathematics and English Vocabulary and Grammar are available. Students can easily view these e- content and can download for future reference.
WhatsApp Groups are formed (class wise/subject wise wherever possible) with parents/guardians by Heads of the Institutions/teachers of the schools. Learning support including homework etc. through WhatsApp is being provided by teachers. Teachers have developed short videos on academic areas and shared the same on WhatsApp so that students can learn through these videos.
Impact: Increased parent’s involvement in their childrens’ learning progress, awareness among community, good relationship among Teachers & students, lower possibility of dropout children
Government of Assam has launched Career Guidance Portal for the students of Class IX to XII, so that students will be able to get the information of different career paths and the institution/colleges. To know more information, visit Career guidance portal
Android mobile application is developed where e-content of class VI to X for Science, Mathematics and English Vocabulary and Grammar will be present. Android Application will be free of cost and it will be available at Google Play Store. ‘BiswaVidyaAssam’ App is very user friendly and user interface enables smooth navigation.
