Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is an initiative of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organization under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), an institution under the Ministry of Education (earlier known as Ministry of Human Resources and Development). VVM is a national program for popularizing science among school students of standard VI to XI, conceptualised to identify the bright minds with a scientific aptitude among the student community. VVM is India’s largest science talent search examination for new India using digital devices as well as India’s first open book exam.
Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) is a national movement for the propagation and popularization of Science & Technology among students and masses. VIBHA promotes scientific contributions made by India in ancient times as well as now. Now we are the largest scientific organization having the longest chain of state units and networking institutions across the country.
Vigyan Prasar (VP) is a national institute for science and technology communication established in 1989 under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Vigyan Prasar promotes and propagates a scientific and rational outlook in society, nurtures interest in science, encourages creativity and develops capacity for informed decision making.
National Council of Educational Research & Training (NCERT) is an organisation set up by the Government of India in the year 1961 to assist and advise the central and state governments on academic matters related to school education. The major objectives of NCERT and its constituent units are to: undertake, promote and coordinate research in areas related to school education; prepare and publish model textbooks, supplementary material, newsletters, journals and develop educational kits, multimedia digital materials, etc.
Students participating in VVM shall undergo the following multi-level testing procedures:
For the winners of VVM, the program also includes organising visits to National Science Laboratories and Centres of repute and interaction with renowned scientists of the nation. The VVM will identify Vigyan Jigyasu (विज्ञानं जिज्ञासु) - Keen Knowledge Seeker of Science at National Level. Each student will be evaluated vis-á-vis his/her class peers at all the stages i.e. school, state and national level.
Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan is a national level, unique, app-based, science talent search examination that is conducted online. Students from classes VI to XI studying under CBSE, ICSE and State Boards are eligible. Registration will be available only through online mode on VVM website under two categories, namely:
The registered students will be allowed to take exam from his/her own device, namely, a smartphone (mobile), laptop or desktop from his/her home. Exam will be conducted on windows and android platforms only.

Qualifying Criterion | Answers of Section B will be checked only if a student secures equal or more than 50% (i.e. equal to or more than 20 Marks) in Section A. The final merit list to identify participants for State Level Camp would be prepared on the basis of total marks scored in both segments namely Section A & Section B. In case, if there is tie in rankings, marks obtained in Section A will be the deciding one. |
School-Level Examinations (Junior and Senior)
There will be only one examination for a total of one hour thirty minutes duration at school level with 100 multiple choice questions, each weighted for one mark. Examination will consist of two segments:
State Level Camp (SLC)
Top 20 rankers from each class for every state will be identified to participate in the one or two day State Level Camp (SLC). The camp will be organised at any location within the state. State Level Camp consists of:
States will be clubbed according to the number of students who appeared for the examination, as per consideration of their geographical and cultural resemblance, and convenience of the students.
National Camp (NC)
Top two students from each class i.e. total 12 students from each state will be invited to a two day National Camp, which comprises of:
