The Ranganadi River (known as the Panyor River in its upstream reaches is one of major tributaries of the Bhramaputra River with highly dependable flows. It originates from the Nilam, Marta and Tapo mountain ranges in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Ranganadi sub-basin spreads for about 2384.65sq.km across the Lower Subansiri and Papum-Pare districts in ArunachalPradesh, and Lakhimpur district of Assam where it joins the Subansiri-Bhramaputra river system at Khichikagaon.
This Project is located in the Lower Subansiri District of the State of Arunachal Pradesh in the Ranganadi basin and the adjoining Dikrong basin. It has a capacity of 405 MW. It's commercial operation started in 2001-02. The beneficiary states include Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya , Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura.
It is being managed by the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd.
