Food processing - NIFTEM And IICPT

NIFTM and IIPCT

Scheme is implemented through National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) and Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IICPT). These institutes are also conducting short-term trainings in food processing sponsored by different organizations and on fee basis from the trainees. These institutions carry out short term as well as 3 to 6 month trainings on the subjects like Conventional foods, value addition, instant foods, snacks and masala mixes, extrusion technology, preservation techniques, packaging techniques and various customized trainings as per the requirements of customers.

Who can apply?

The eligibility for these trainings done on fee basis are generally 10/l2th  pass.

How to apply?

Trainees directly apply to the institution or through the NGO's for these trainings.

Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology

Brief Description:

CIPET is conducting various skill development training programs under the different schemes of Central/State Government Departments/Agencies for the benefit of their target group. Also, under CSR initiatives of PSUs the training programs are being conducting for the benefit of unemployed/unprivileged youth.

Nature of Assistance:

  • Organising awareness camps at various locations
  • Enhancing technical skill by providing 70–80 practical oriented training for the gainful employment in line with the industrial need as well as assisting for self-employment.
  • Organising personality development/soft skill training to increase their communication and inter.-personal skills.
  • The established linkage with the industries, CIPET is providing placement in the industries for the successful trainees.

  • Unemployed youths
  • School dropouts youths
  • Underprivileged youths
  • Deserving & needy youths of lower strata of society

How to apply?

  • The interested candidates can submit the application forms for joining the courses by referring the advertisement released in leading National/Regional Newspapers, CIPET website, Electronic Media, etc.
  • Also candidates can approach directly to the respective CIPET centres.

Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs)

Brief Description:

Implemented under Department of Agriculture Research and Educations. KVKs established mainly to impart vocational training to the farmers and field level extension workers. The prime goal of KVK is to impart training as per needs and requirements in agriculture and allied enterprises to all farmers, farm women and farm youths including school drop-outs in the rural area. No formal certificate or diploma is awarded, irrespective of duration of the courses to avoid the rush for jobs instead of self-employment. Vocational trainings help farmers to sustain themselves through self-employment. At present there are 630 KVKs, which include 428 under State Agricultural Universities (SAU) and Central Agricultural University (CAU), 51 under ICAR Institutes, 99 under NGOs, 35 under State Governments, and the remaining 17 under other educational institution.

Nature of Assistance:

Planning and conducting production-oriented, need-based short and long duration training courses

Who can apply?

All farmers, farm women and farm youths

How to apply?

Training is imparted to the farmers by KVKs as per the training calendar prepared under subject matter specialist. Individually Farmers can also contact KVKs for assistance.

National Institute of Open Schooling  - Distance Vocational Education Programmes

Brief Description:

NIOS provides educational opportunities to the persons who wish to study and qualify for a better tomorrow. The Mission of NIOS is to provide education for all with special concern for girls and women, rural youth, working people, SC,ST, physically and mentally challenged to create employment opportunities by providing need based programmes of Vocational Education and Training (VET) and responding to the growing demand of skilled manpower, NIOS offers various vocational education courses in new areas. A wide range of courses pertaining to different trades and vocations are offered. At present, approximately 59 vocational subjects in the following areasare available through a strong network of Accredited Vocational Institutions (AVIs) all over the country. Although in an Open and Distance learning (ODL) system, NIOS expects its learners to be self-learners undergoing learning from a package of self-instructional materials, it does not completely do away with human support. NIOS provides planned institutional support in different ways from the time a learner joins the system till his/her successful completion of the course. In this context, NIOS considers utilization of existing available resources in formal schools and in certainother institutions by accrediting selected institutions to be its partners.

Jan Shikshan Sansthan

Brief Description:

Jan Shikshan Sansthan (formerly known as Shramik Vidyapeeth) provides vocational skill to non-literate, neo-literates as well as school drop-outs by identifying skills that have a market in the region of their establishment. The scope of work of Jan Shikshan Sansthans (JSSs) includes the following:

  • Develop/Source appropriate curriculum and training modules covering vocational elements general awareness and life enrichment components.
  • Wherever possible, JSSs are encouraged to undertake training equivalent to courses designed by the Directorate of Adult Education, National Institute of Open Schooling and Director General, Employment & Training.
  • Provide training to a pool of resource persons and master trainers for conducting training as also availability of infrastructure and training-specific equipment.
  • Administer simple tests and award certificates.
  • Network with employers and industries for trainees to get suitable placements.

Nature of Assistance:

The quantum of assistance provided for each Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) is as follows

Who can apply?

The Jan Shikshan Sansthan will concentrate on the socioeconomically backward and educationally disadvantaged groups of urban/rural population such as men, women and youth, employed, self-employed, neo-literates, prospective workers and their family members as well as unemployed youth. Priority is to be given to adult neo-literates/semi-literates, SC and ST, women/girls, oppressed, migrants, slum/pavement dwellers and working children.
