The Government of India is dedicated to cement India as # 1 hub for Medical and Wellness Tourism globally, inviting the world to “Heal in India” with the mandate of ‘Seva’ coupled with ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ on mission mode.

Under the “Heal in India” initiative, which aims to promote Medical Value Travel in the country, MoHFW, India has developed the Medical Value Travel Digital Portal for ease of foreign patients coming to India for treatment. Medical Value Travel may be defined as activities related to travel and hosting a foreign tourist who stays at least one night at the destination region for the purpose of maintaining, improving or restoring health through medical intervention.

India’s Medical Intervention

• Medical Treatment: Treatment for curative purposes that may include cardiac surgery, organ transplant, hip and knee replacement etc.
• Wellness & Rejuvenation: Offerings focused on rejuvenation or for aesthetic reasons such as cosmetic surgery, stress relief, spas etc.
• Traditional Medicine: Access to traditional systems of medicines such as India’s offering of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy).

Medical Value Travel (MVT) Portal

India’s MVT Portal aims to:

• Capture end-to-end patient journey duly providing all services online.
• Provide search functionality based on city, hospital, doctor, procedure, MVT Facilitator for identifying relevant service.
• Provide transparent online package pricing for Indian Traditional System of Medicine, Allopathy & Integrated Medicine.
• Allow Government to Government, Government to Hospital, Hospital to Hospital, Patient to MVT Facilitator and in turn Hospital, Patient to Hospital interaction facilitating multiple channels to promote MVT.
• Capture patient testimonials, including mechanism for patient grievances and their redressal.

Visa Information

• India has introduced Medical Visa and Medical Attendant Visa for the ease and comfort of patients and their loved ones.
• Currently, India is offering e-medical visa to 150+ countries within 24-48 hours.
• India also offers Regular/Paper medical visa application.
• Ayush treatment has also been included within the Medical Visa category.
• India has simplified the medical visa processes to allow multiple entries and long-term stays to support you and your family in the journey of care and recuperation.
• Standing true to the mandate of a “Digital India”, all processes are digitalized with limited interaction with an Indian official till arrival at the immigration counter.
